Baked Bacon

This Baked Bacon could not be more simple! Use foil on your baking sheet and on top of the bacon to keep your oven clean and for easy clean up. We love bacon but, do not love standing over a frying pan with the bacon grease splattering on us! Sometimes we cook it on the grill to keep the bacon smell out of the house too. But, I this baking method fixes the spattering and keeps the smell down a bit-not that I do not love the smell of bacon, I just don’t want to smell like bacon all day.

Note: we use bacon grease in other recipes so, we pour the cooled bacon grease into a small Tupperware and store it in the refrigerator for later use. Try these Hasselback Bottoms-they are delicious!

How To Make Baked Bacon:

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

This step is optional but, it helps with clean up: cover a large baking sheet with aluminum foil-cover bottom and wrap foil around the edges to hold in place and keep the pan clean.

Spray the foil with non-stick cooking spray.

Lay the bacon slices next to each other across the bottom of the baking sheet.

Cover the pan with enough foil to make sure it is secure around the all of edges of the pan so the bacon will not splatter out onto your oven.

Bake the bacon for 45 minutes. This is my preferred time. Check bacon earlier if you like your bacon less crispy.

When bacon is desired crispy-ness, remove from the oven and remove bacon from the baking sheet. Lay the bacon on paper towel to absorb excess bacon grease.

I like to carefully pour the bacon grease that remains on the baking sheet into a heat safe bowl to cool. Then, store in a small Tupperware in the refrigerator for later use in other recipes like: Hasselback Bottoms. 😊

Ingredients

  • 12-16 ounces bacon
  • non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Cover a large baking sheet with aluminum foil-bottom and wrap around the sides.

  2. Spray foil with non-stick cooking spray.

  3. Lay bacon slices in a single layer across the bottom (and sides) of the pan.

  4. Cover the pan with aluminum foil-wrap the edges around the pan.

  5. Bake at 400° for 45 minutes. I like one pound of bacon at 45 minutes. Check your bacon at 30 minutes to check for your desired crispy-ness and continue cooking, if desired. Adjust as needed.

  6. When bacon is just the way you like it, remove the pan from the oven, lay bacon on paper towel to drain excess bacon grease. Serve and enjoy!

  7. I use bacon grease in a few other recipes so, I pour the grease into a heat safe bowl and allow it to cool. Then place it in a airtight container to later use-store in the refrigerator.
