Instructions For French Dip Sandwiches:

Pour beef broth into the bottom of a slow cooker that is big enough to hold the roast beef.

Add the bay leaf, thyme, black pepper, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and dried onion. Stir to combine.

Cut roast in half and brown all sides (we cut the roast in half so more of the roast is covered by the Au Jus sauce).

Place roast in the slow cooker and spoon sauce over the top of the meat.

Cover and cook for eight hours on low.

When the roast has cooked, remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred the meat. Cover meat with foil to keep warm.

Slice rolls in half and place on a baking sheet. Butter the cut sides of the rolls and place the baking sheet under the broiler to lightly toast the rolls. Remove from the oven.

Divide meat between the eight rolls (I place the meat on each of the bottom pieces of bread and remove the top sides of the bread from the pan).

Then, place the provolone cheese on top of the meat.

Place the baking sheet with the meat and cheese covered rolls back under the broiler just to melt the cheese. Remove from the oven and place top side of roll onto the melted cheese.

Remove the bay leaf from the juices in the slow cooker before serving and discard.

Serve with the juices from the slow cooker as the dip for the French Dip Sandwiches-the Au Jus.

Enjoy these wonderfully delicious and easy sandwiches.
