Instructions for Homemade Pizza Sauce:

Wash and core tomatoes. Cut them into chunks and place in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish.

Peel and cut onion into chunks.

Rinse and dry fresh basil leaves. Place in baking dish.

Peel garlic and cut cloves in half and place them in the baking dish.

Drizzle olive oil over the top of the ingredients and stir.

Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour.

When they hour is over, remove baking dish from the oven and allow time to cool down to warm.

Remove tomatoes, onion, garlic and basil from the baking dish, leaving the juices behind. I use a slotted spoon.

Place tomato mixture into a blender and blend. I prefer the Ninja Professional Blender.

Add brown sugar, parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, oregano, salt and pepper. Blend.

Use, refrigerate for a few days until ready to use or freeze for later.

NOTE: If you freeze this sauce, when you thaw it, it may be a bit runny due to the ice. Place sauce into a sauce pan and simmer it to thicken.

We use this on this Easy Homemade Pizza Crust Recipe. This pizza crust recipe fits a large baking sheet and I use 1 cup of this sauce for that recipe. I freeze the other two cups in ZipLoc bags to use later.
