How To Make Classic Seven Layer Dip:

In a mixing bowl, combine refried beans, taco seasoning and salsa.

Spread the refried bean mixture into a 9 x 13 Pyrex baking dish.

Mash avocado and mix the dry guacamole mix into the mashed avocado. Mix well. Or you can use already prepared guacamole.

Spread the guacamole carefully over the refried bean mixture.

Stir sour cream so it is more spreadable. Then, spread it carefully over the guacamole mixture.

(After the sour cream layer-an optional salsa layer can be used. Just use enough to make a thin layer of salsa, if you want to add this layer)

Grate the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses and sprinkle over the top of your sour cream layer.

Drain and slice the olives, dice the roma tomatoes, slice the green onions including the tops and tear the cilantro leaves.

Top the cheese layer with the sliced olives, diced tomatoes, sliced green onion and chopped or torn cilantro leaves.

Cover and chill this dish for about an hour or until ready to serve.

Serve with tortilla chips. Enjoy!

Cook’s Notes:

If you would like to make this dish a meal, cook a pound of ground beef, drain the fat and add a package of taco seasoning and the water called for on the package.

This is a versatile dip. Leave off ingredients you do not like-such as cilantro. Some people do not like cilantro. Or the black olives, if you do not like them. You could add black beans-very versatile.
