Instructions for French Bread:

In Bosch mixing bowl (or a stand mixer you like for making bread), add warm water. Then, sprinkle the yeast over the water. Then, sprinkle the sugar over the yeast and let sit for 5 minutes.

Next, add flour and salt. Mix for 5 minutes. Then, cover the bowl with a towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Put the dough on a floured surface, divide into two equal pieces and roll each into a rectangle with tapered ends. Either form two straight French Bread shaped loaves or you can twist the loaves-starting with the smaller end, twist the dough up until it is spiraled and tapered off at the ends.

Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the loaves on the parchment paper. Cut just the top of each loaf with diagonal slashes-about three per loaf. Use a very sharp knife and a little flour on the blade, if needed. Cover and allow bread to rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes or until doubled in size.

Mix together the egg white and 1/2 tbsp water. Brush mixture over the tops of the loaves. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes.

Enjoy!

  • 1 1/2 tsp instant dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg white only
  • 1/2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. In a Bosch mixer (or whatever standing mixer you use to make bread), add warm water.

  2. Sprinkle yeast over the warm water and then sprinkle the sugar over the yeast. Allow mixture to sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Add flour and salt. Mix for 5 minutes until dough is smooth.

  4. Cover with a towel and let dough rise for 30 minutes in a warm place. Dough should double in size.

  10. Mix egg white and 1/2 tablespoon of water well-with a fork. Brush egg mixture over the top and sides of the loaves, carefully.
