Welcome to our family recipe blog, where you will find many easy family friendly recipes. Don’t you just love easy recipes that call for only a very few ingredients? That’s what we love about this dip. Sour cream is normally in our refrigerator and we always have dry onion soup mix. Of course, chips are a staple. Snacks and desserts are favorites.

We eat this very often. It is very inexpensive to make along with the most easy dip I have ever made! We buy the Walmart brand-Great Value dry onion soup mix. You can definitely use Lipton dry onion soup mix, too. Use what you have and what you like best.

This is a great snack for those pre-teens and teenagers after a long day at school. They love dip with chips. It have found it to be a great idea to have a snack for the kids after school. Not only because they are hungry but, I love to sit down with them and talk about their day as we share a snack. My kids often tell me,” nothing” when asked what they did that day-or similar questions. Not true! As a former teacher, I know students say this just as my own have said this on many, many occasions. I know as a teacher that there isn’t a day that we do “nothing.” I learned to ask my own kids questions that were not so broad-I get more specific now 😊.

Ingredients Needed for Easy Onion Dip:

1 ounce dry onion soup mix-a name brand or store brand will work. I use Great Value all the time. They come in a two pack-use one of the foil packages inside the box.

16 ounce sour cream

Potato chips of your choice-Ruffles or another brand of chip with ridges-they are stronger. This is a thick dip so, you will need a strong and thick chip.

How to Make Easy Onion Dip:

In a medium sized bowl or Tupperware, combine the dry onion soup mix with the sour cream.

Mix well-until all of the dry onion soup mix has been incorporated into the sour cream.

When the dip is mixed well, refrigerate to chill the dip and to give time for the dehydrated onions in the dry onion soup mix to re-hydrate.

Serve with your favorite ridged or rippled chips. We love Ruffles the most with this dip.

This dip, if you have any left over, will keep in the refrigerator for three to four days.

We love appetizers for parties, game nights, and movie nights (any day or night). Below you will find links to some of our favorites! Easy Queso is so good! It takes a few more ingredients than Easy Onion Dip but, it is well worth it.

Creamy Avocado Dip is so creamy and smooth. It is quick to make and very yummy. You will have to try this dip with Mexican Egg Rolls-they are so very delicious together! This dip is also great with other foods you would eat avocado or guacamole with.

Spinach Artichoke Dip is always a hit at get-togethers. It is easy and very flavorful. This dip is wonderful with a good bread. It’s fun to serve this in a bread bowl, if desired.

Can NOT forget Guacamole-it is always a favorite. Not only a favorite but also, so healthy. So many fresh ingredients, you will love it! We make this a lot in the summer. Using our fresh produce from our garden is great. I love that we do not have to use the store purchased produce in the summer-that are grown with chemicals. Growing a garden is fun and helps our family eat more fruits and vegetables-just like in this guacamole recipe.

If you like mushrooms, sausage, cream cheese, and parmesan cheese, you will love Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms. They are simple to make and very flavorful.

Barbecue Beef Biscuits can also be an appetizer and a meal. Serve it with some vegetables or these tasty Slow Cooker Baked Beans for a great meal. A great thing about these two recipes is…most of the ingredients are refrigerator or pantry staples for many people.

How did we start eating this dip? I was introduced to this dip by my brother years ago, I thought-eww that’s all that is in it? I was wrong-he was right. It’s delicious. He may have just thrown it together and it worked. He is a great cook. We all love to cook. It’s in our blood-Grandpa owned a bakery a lot of years ago and was a great success. He taught our mom and she taught us.
