1 cup peanut butter

2 cups powdered sugar

12 ounces candy melts or almond bark (or both-I used chocolate almond bark, and white and pink candy melts)

Sprinkles

How to Make Valentine’s Day Peanut Butter Truffles:

1. Slowly melt the butter in a medium sized sauce pan.

2. Add the peanut butter and powdered sugar. Stir this mixture well to combine. You will want this mixture to me smooth and creamy.

3. Remove the sauce pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool a bit.

4. Roll peanut butter mixture into balls. Place the peanut butter balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper (or no parchment paper if you don’t have any or do not use parchment paper-it’s not mandatory).

5. Place the cookie sheet with the peanut butter balls in the refrigerator and allow time for them to set up.

6. Remove the peanut butter balls from the refrigerator and quickly re-roll the balls to smooth them out. You will be able to get them more smooth after they have set up in the refrigerator. Return them to the refrigerator while you melt the chocolate. (Then begin dipping and decorating. Remove only a few peanut butter balls at a time from the fridge to dip and decorate)

7. Melt your chocolate as directed on the package (mine said to melt in the microwave on defrost for 1 minute-mine took less than 1 minute. Make sure to stir frequently). I melted my chocolate almond bark first and dipped and decorated half. Then, I melted my white candy melts and dipped and decorated the rest. The chocolate sets quickly. I melted my pink candy melts last and decorated the ones I didn’t use sprinkles on.

These are fun to make and give for other holidays as well. Have fun experimenting with different decorating ideas.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 ounces candy melts or almond bark I used chocolate almond bark and pink and white candy melts
  • holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Slowly melt butter in a sauce pan.

  2. Add peanut butter and powdered sugar and stir to combine well.

  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool a bit.

  4. Roll peanut butter mixture into balls and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. (parchment paper is not necessary if you do not have it)

  5. Place the peanut butter balls in the refrigerator and allow to set.

  6. Remove peanut butter balls and re-roll them in your hands to smooth them out. Put them back in the refrigerator.

  7. Melt your chocolate as directed on the package (mine said to melt in the microwave on defrost for 1 minute-mine took less than 1 minute). Make sure to stir frequently. The chocolate almond bark and the candy melts set up pretty quickly. Melt one color at a time (I melted the chocolate first and used it, then melted the white and used it, and later the pink) and dip as I stated above in the post.

  8. Remove a few peanut butter balls at a time. Dip and decorate, if using sprinkles. Then, remove more peanut butter balls and repeat. If you are using candy melts to decorate, do that after you have dipped them all-like the ones I put strips of chocolate on. For the heart, I made it with a frosting bag and tip-draw (with the melted candy melts-and let set up on parchment paper) Then, transferred it to a just dipped peanut butter ball.

  9. Enjoy!
