Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I use brown rice instead of white rice?
Yes, but brown rice takes longer to cook and may require additional broth or water. Adjust the cooking time and liquid accordingly.
2. How do I make this dish spicier?
Give this a Mexican flare by adding, taco seasoning, Rotel, black beans, a dash of hot sauce, or chili powder for a little heat. You will need to adjust the liquid this recipe calls for. You could add a little Worcestershire sauce to the ingredients just as they are below.
3. Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat on the stovetop with extra milk or broth to keep it from drying out.
4. What vegetables go well in this recipe?
Corn, diced tomatoes, and spinach all pair well with beef and rice.
5. Can I use ground turkey instead of beef?
Absolutely! Ground turkey is a great leaner alternative that still tastes delicious in this dish.
6. Can I use all liquid beef broth instead of water and bouillon cubes? Definitely! I like the flavor of bouillon cubes but, you can use all beef broth instead. Use 29-30 ounces.
