The perfect chocolate chip cookie!
Melt butter slowly in the microwave. Stir a few times while melting. Do not let the butter get hot.
In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, combine melted butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add eggs and vanilla. Combine well.
Dissolve baking soda in hot water.
Add salt, dissolved baking soda and flour one cup at a time to the butter and sugar mixture. Combine well.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Roll cookie dough into balls or use a cookie scoop. (makes about 20-24 cookies-depends on size)
I like to break each cookie dough ball in half. Press it back together with the broken sides now being the top. Press a few extra chocolate chips into the top of each cookie before baking.
Place cookie dough balls on a parchment covered cookie sheet.
Bake at 350° for 10 minutes (if you are making small cookies, reduce baking time-remove when cookies begin to turn light brown. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes and then move cookies to a cooling rack. Do not over bake.
Enjoy! Store in an airtight container when cooled. Definitely enjoy some when they are warm.
